In 2026, vibe coding is gaining tremendous traction. Initiatives like Google’s Project Genie and its AI Studio enable users to create applications without traditional coding skills. Now, Meta has entered this growing field with its new app for game development.
The application, named Pocket, targets individuals who have creative gaming ideas but lack coding expertise. Utilizing AI, Pocket allows users to form what the app dubs “gizmos,” which would otherwise require programming knowledge to create.
Pocket includes a community feed where users can browse and interact with creations from others, remixing them into new projects. These “gizmos” not only respond to touch but can also react to the orientation of the device. They can incorporate sound effects, music, use the camera, and access images from the device’s photo library.
The concept is reminiscent of Jamboree, an iOS app for game development that uses vibe coding to help users build games through natural language descriptions. Jamboree also provides a social feature to play and remix others’ creations.
Additionally, Meta’s Pocket may aim beyond just gaming. By allowing access to the camera and photo library, it could serve as a platform for creating innovative camera filters similar to those available in apps like Snapchat.
Earlier in the year, Meta acquired the vibe coding game development platform “Gizmo,” and the Pocket app appears to be a direct outcome of that purchase. It seems that the app is currently available only in select regions, as I was unable to download it in India.
