Meta Unveils “Spaces”: A Fresh Approach to Collaborating with Your Muse Agent

Meta has unveiled its latest feature, Spaces, designed to enhance how users communicate and collaborate with its new Muse agents.

Essentially, Spaces function as dedicated discussion areas focusing on specific themes, referred to by Meta as “custom experiences.” These spaces are accessible from the sidebar within the Muse interface, and selecting a Space initiates a conversation where Muse actively works toward a defined goal for the user.

For example, if you’re looking to organize a vacation, you can create a dedicated Space for that task. Whenever you wish to consult with Muse on this project, you can simply click the related tab. Similarly, if you’re gathering recipes for a family gathering, you can initiate a Space tailored for that. Other potential uses highlighted by Meta include a holiday gift organizer, wedding planner, or DIY project coordinator.

Meta states, “Describe an idea in chat, and Muse builds a space for you, whether that’s a tracker, a planner, or a project board.”

According to Meta, Spaces can also seamlessly connect with third-party applications and data.

“Link the apps you use, and your spaces will update automatically, so changes like concert dates, price updates, or savings status are reflected without needing to prompt,” the company explains.

On Friday, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, shared his excitement about this new feature on social media: “Experimenting with spaces in Muse has been fun — just tell Muse what you need and it sets it up. I’ve created a BBQ game, an event tracker, and a home control dashboard. I can’t wait to see what you all come up with.”

The Muse agents, along with their friendly avatars, have received a positive response since their introduction. In an earnings call last month, Zuckerberg reported that 10 million users in the U.S. and Canada had signed up just weeks after the agents’ release.

Meta is clearly focused on enhancing the user experience for these agents, with Spaces being the second feature introduced within a week. The day before, the company announced Muse Voice, which enables users to engage in video chats with their agents and issue voice commands.

The company competes in the market alongside other charming AI agents, such as OpenAI’s dots and SpaceXAI’s Grokbot, which feature similarly engaging personalities.
