Life360 Enhances Pet Tracking: Introduces Affordable $8 Scannable Tags and Zoomie Notifications
Life360, known for its family safety and location-sharing app, is enhancing its pet-tracking features with the introduction of a new line of scannable pet tags priced at $7.99, alongside additional pet care functionalities utilizing its tracking technology.
Last year, Life360 ventured into pet technology by launching GPS pet trackers that take advantage of its existing lost-item recovery capabilities, following the acquisition of Tile, a competitor to AirTag. This collaboration allows the service to not only offer family location-sharing but also facilitate tracking for beloved items like keys, bags, luggage, and pets.
Since integrating pet tracking, the platform has seen over 8 million pets added to family accounts.
Recognizing that not every pet owner prefers bulky trackers, and that some may not require advanced features such as geofences or escape alerts, the company has introduced simpler scannable tags. These tags primarily allow pet owners to display their contact info securely.
Moreover, when someone scans the QR code on these new tags, it not only shares the pet owner’s phone number but also sends an alert to the family’s Life360 app. There’s no need for the finder to have the app installed, ensuring streamlined communication for pet reunification.
This dual-purpose feature gives pet owners greater peace of mind, especially if their furry friends wander off again, as it provides the last known location of the pet.
Families can easily modify their contact details through the Life360 pet profile in the app.
In addition, Life360 is unveiling various pet care tools, allowing families to create “care logs” that help track crucial pet care tasks such as feeding, walking, administering medications, or cleaning litter. This system ensures that all family members are aware of the pet’s needs at any time.
An engaging feature is the “Zoomies Alerts” for GPS trackers, which records and tracks the energetic moments pets experience throughout the day. Additionally, a new Weekly Roundup will recap key pet care activities, such as total distance walked and highlight which family member was most involved in pet care that week.
To make pet tracking more accessible, the company has adjusted its subscription model. Previously only available in the premium Platinum and Gold plans, GPS pet trackers can now be accessed through the more affordable $99 per year Silver subscription.
The new pet tags and GPS trackers are available for purchase on the company’s website as well as Amazon, with distribution in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the U.K.
