Investors in Trump-Themed Memecoin Suffer $3.8 Billion Loss, New Analysis Reveals

Close to 1 million individuals have incurred losses totaling $3.8 billion after purchasing the $TRUMP memecoin, as reported by cryptocurrency data firm Nansen.
According to findings shared by The New York Times, Nansen’s review, which examines transactions visible on the blockchain, indicated that as of the end of June, 988,905 accounts faced financial losses with the memecoin. This figure amounts to roughly two-thirds of all $TRUMP purchasers.
As of Sunday, the value of $TRUMP was recorded at $1.69, plummeting nearly 98% from its peak of $75.35.
The memecoin was introduced by Trump just three days prior to his planned inauguration in 2025. He had previously initiated a crypto venture, World Liberty Financial, alongside his sons. The associated coin, $WLFI, has also seen a drastic decline in its market value.
In a recent financial statement, the president disclosed earnings of $636 million from the $TRUMP memecoin, which represents almost half of the $1.4 billion he garnered from the cryptocurrency sector last year.
During Trump’s presidency, the Securities and Exchange Commission announced it would refrain from regulating memecoins as securities and has halted several lawsuits against crypto firms. A White House representative stated, “President Trump proudly established the United States as the crypto capital of the world.”
