This information comes from developer Dylan Roussel on social media, who indicated that the Pixel 11’s feature will not retain the Pixel Glow moniker seen in earlier Android updates. Roussel is known for discovering hidden functionalities in Android betas and apps, but this claim remains unverified.

Initially identified as Pixel Glow in Android 17 Beta 4, this feature showcased gentle lights and colors on the phone’s back when placed face down. The early version hinted at alerts for calls from favorite contacts, as well as visual cues while interacting with Gemini.

Google has displayed the hardware in teasers for the Pixel 11 Pro, showcasing a small circular light integrated into the camera module, with promotional videos featuring various rotating colors.

The name HiLight certainly brings a fun twist, merging the concepts of “highlight” and “Hi, light,” seemingly aiming to emphasize user activities. However, we might not receive official confirmation until the Pixel 11 series is launched on August 12.
