Summary:
- Google has unveiled a teaser video in advance of its upcoming Pixel launch event.
- The teaser highlights the features of the Pixel Watch 5 along with the date of the launch.
- The company claims its smartwatch “still looks like a watch.”
As we approach the Made by Google event slated for next week, excitement is building. This event will showcase the company’s latest smartphones and its upcoming smartwatch. To ramp up anticipation, Google has shared a fresh teaser video.
Following teasers for the Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, it’s now the Pixel Watch 5’s turn. Similar to previous teasers, this video presents a shadowy silhouette of the new smartwatch and concludes with a reminder about the launch date, set for August 12.
In a brief segment of the video, Google takes a jab at competing smartwatches. After listing some capabilities of the Pixel Watch 5, the narrator declares that the device “still has the decency to look like a watch.” This statement seemingly critiques the bulkier designs of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Apple Watch Ultra 3.
According to countdown timers visible on the Google Store and Best Buy, pre-orders for the latest Pixel gadgets will be available prior to the event. The launch is slated for 6:00 PM ET on August 12, and these timers will conclude by 10:00 AM ET that same day.
