Summary:
- Google has acknowledged a bug affecting the Broadcast feature on Google Home devices.
- Instead of sending out announcements, the device is misunderstanding them as regular conversation prompts.
- Google is working on a fix and plans to inform users once it’s available.
Google is addressing a bothersome issue with its Gemini system that is hindering the Broadcast function on Google Home devices.
A user on Reddit highlighted that the Broadcast feature has been malfunctioning for several days. The issue lies with Gemini, which has stopped sending responses to connected Google Home devices as expected. Instead of broadcasting messages, it mistakenly processes them as standard dialogues.
For instance, when a user states, “Time for dinner,” Gemini is responding with, “I don’t eat.” Similarly, saying, “It’s time to go,” results in Gemini replying, “Oh, ok, let’s cancel that for now,” rather than communicating the message to the home.
The individual shared that the Broadcast feature is essential for their family, making this glitch particularly frustrating.
Fortunately, it appears that a solution may be on the way. In response to the reported issue, Google commented:
Thanks for your feedback. We’re actively addressing this and will provide updates once a fix starts to roll out. We appreciate your patience.
It’s reassuring to see Google acknowledge the problem promptly. Recently, the company has made efforts to quickly resolve user complaints regarding Google Home.
Most recently, Google acted swiftly to rectify a setup problem that some new users encountered while configuring their devices.
If you’ve experienced Gemini replying to your Broadcast messages instead of dispatching them via your Google Home devices, rest assured that Google is already working on a resolution.
