Dimension Capital’s $800M Third Fund Highlights the Thriving Convergence of Science and Technology

Despite challenges faced by many emerging venture capital firms in securing new funding, Dimension Capital, established in late 2022, has successfully raised increasingly substantial funds in a short period. On Tuesday, this New York-based firm—focusing on the convergence of science and computing—unveiled an $800 million fund, which represents a 60% increase from the $500 million fund it launched just 18 months prior.
When Zavian Dar and Adam Goulburn, former partners at Lux Capital, collaborated with Nan Li, an alumnus of Obvious Ventures, to create the firm four years ago, they anticipated that entrepreneurs would be more inclined to develop deep-tech ventures merging biotechnology and software. The trio now expresses astonishment at the speed with which their predictions have manifested.
In 2024, the firm co-led a $30 million seed round for Chai Discovery, a startup focused on creating open-source AI foundational models for drug development. Last week, Chai Discovery reported that it had secured $400 million at a valuation of $3.8 billion. In addition, Dimension Capital invested in the anti-aging company New Limit during its Series A funding in January 2025. Earlier this month, New Limit, co-founded by Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong, successfully completed a Series C round, achieving a valuation of $3.1 billion.
Other significant investments from Dimension include Modal Labs, which specializes in inference technology, and Anthropic. The firm received shares in Anthropic following its acquisition of Coefficient Bio, a portfolio company specializing in drug discovery, this past spring for an estimated $400 million.
