Anthropic has introduced a new feature called Claude Docs, which enables their AI assistant to generate documents on request. This enhancement aims to streamline access to the various functions of Claude. Users can now request document creation during their chat sessions, allowing the assistant to produce essential materials, like a one-page summary, directly in the conversation. Initially, these documents are private, but users have the option to share them with their team members for collaboration. Claude allows for in-chat editing, as well as the ability to export files for use in Google Docs or Microsoft Word.
In addition, the platform will now support the creation of presentations and slides without needing to navigate to Claude Design. Users simply ask Claude within the chat to generate a presentation, and the slides will appear right there. These can be edited immediately or downloaded in formats like PowerPoint or PDF.
Furthermore, Anthropic is integrating its Cowork and Artifacts functions into a unified interface. Cowork is designed for executing complex tasks and can analyze existing documents to produce new content such as documents, slides, and spreadsheets. Artifacts, on the other hand, refer to saved items like documents, websites, and diagrams that can be accessed later from a sidebar.
The company noted that they initially set up Design for visual tasks and Cowork for broader projects, but users often became confused about where to perform specific tasks, as progress in one area did not transfer to the other.
These improvements contribute to the concept of a “One Claude,” consolidating various functionalities into a single platform. “Claude can now understand task requirements, making the capabilities of Cowork and Design available within any chat context, along with existing skills and connections,” according to Anthropic.
The rollout of these updates is expected to begin for Pro and Max subscribers over the coming weeks across web, desktop, and mobile platforms. Users with Team and Free plans will also gain access to these features “soon.”
