Anticipating the Pixel 11 Launch: Insights on Its August 12th Reveal

Google has scheduled a launch event for the Pixel 11 in New York City on August 12. While the invitation is vague, it features a teaser image of the device that hints at an anticipated all-black camera bar. Overall, the design will likely resonate with fans of the Pixel 10 and Pixel 9, but there are intriguing features to anticipate.

What to Expect at Google’s Pixel 11 Event

Pixel Glow, Enhanced Chips, and Price Increases

Hidden code in the Android 17 beta has alluded to a new feature called “Pixel Glow,” which may become a focal point of the Pixel 11 series. This feature would likely utilize “subtle light and color” on the back of the phone to inform the user of significant notifications. For instance, you might recognize when a close contact is calling while your phone is face down, or when you have a response from Gemini.

Essentially, Google aims to create a modern equivalent of the notification LED lights found in devices like the Nothing phones, allowing users to stay updated without constantly checking their screens.

Beyond this, the forthcoming models may not stray far from their predecessors. Expectations are set for the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL, and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, which are anticipated to closely mirror their earlier versions.

The new devices are likely to feature a Tensor G6 chip, projected to be faster and more efficient thanks to TSMC’s new 2-nanometer fabrication process. It’s also speculated that Google could transition from Samsung modems, which have faced some reliability criticism, to MediaTek options.

A revival of the 50-megapixel main camera is on the horizon following a temporary downgrade. Additionally, there are indications that base storage will rise from 128GB to 256GB, though this enhancement might be accompanied by a price hike. Reports suggest that each model may see an increase of approximately €100 ($114).

The Fate of the Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds

Google traditionally uses its hardware events to unveil new versions of the Pixel Watch and Pixel Buds. Anticipation is building for at least a Pixel Watch 5, especially after reports surfaced of a prototype being discovered underwater by an associate of Gearbox Software co-founder Randy Pitchford. This new model is expected to be similar to the Pixel Watch 4 but may feature an updated processor and include LTE cellular capability across all versions.

As for the Pixel Buds, no leaks have emerged regarding updates since the Pixel Buds 2a debuted in August 2025 (while the Buds Pro 2 were revealed in 2024). While new earbuds are not expected, Google may feel the need to adapt to keep pace with recent releases like the AirPods Pro 3 and Galaxy Buds Pro 4.
