Anthropic Unveils New Tools to Illuminate ROI on AI Investments for Businesses

Anthropic has shared promising financial updates regarding its AI coding assistant, Claude Code, emphasizing its success as a business venture. The company reported an operating profit for the second quarter, along with a remarkable 900% net revenue retention, indicating significant growth from existing customers.
To enhance customer retention and satisfaction, Anthropic introduced a new set of reporting tools aimed at providing enterprise users with detailed insights on the value derived from their resource spending.
Through internal analytics and employee feedback, managers can evaluate their team’s performance over specific periods, assessing output, costs incurred, and identifying potential workflow issues. Anthropic has stated that this data will not be used for model training by default. Additionally, the reports will suggest ways to optimize results.

These reporting tools serve as evidence of the value generated by Anthropic’s offerings, facilitating client efforts to maximize returns, a priority for large enterprises. The company is also establishing collective budgets to help teams manage their resource allocation effectively.
Organizations are increasingly seeking such insights to optimize their AI utilization. While expenditures driven by venture-backed companies contribute to token use, many large companies have yet to see substantial benefits from integrating AI.
A recent report from Jellyfish, a provider of tools for developers, indicated that Claude Code and similar instruments have become the most utilized in a study involving 276,000 users. Claude Code accounted for nearly a third of the proposed code modifications, and spending on these tools has surged tenfold since the year’s start, making up approximately 2% of overall engineering expenses.
“While 2% may seem small, this tenfold increase is growth that caught many CFOs off guard,” noted Nicholas Arcolano, chief scientist at Jellyfish. He emphasized that it’s increasingly important for businesses to not just invest but also to optimize AI spending.
Anthropic’s latest reports address this need. Although the company currently leads in the enterprise market, determining what makes their coding tools highly effective can be challenging. Despite concerns about the competition from OpenAI’s Astra model, Anthropic’s adoption rates have remained strong.
Jellyfish’s AI product lead, Nikolas Albarran, reflected on the market dynamics, noting a perception of increased competition, especially with the arrival of Astra. However, he pointed out that Anthropic’s effective enterprise strategies and established presence have ensured its success.
Switching service providers can be particularly tough for businesses that have made significant investments. Albarran highlighted the trend of major AI companies investing in forward-deployed engineering teams, who assist clients in implementing AI solutions. Anthropic’s new reporting tools provide a more streamlined version of this support to its customers.
“At this point, once companies choose a supplier, it becomes increasingly difficult to change,” he remarked. “Even small differences in model functionality can create barriers to switching, leading to ongoing reliance on established tools.”
