Android Redesigns Quick Settings: Prioritizing Media Controls

The most recent update for Canary introduces an upgraded Quick Quick Settings (QQS) layout, allowing users to reposition the media player to the top of the Quick Settings tiles.

Recent images highlight this change clearly. Traditionally, Android showcases four Quick Settings tiles, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Modes, and Wallet, at the upper section of the notification shade, while the media player is located below. With this new feature, users can adjust the layout so the media player is displayed first. This means the media controls will now be the first thing visible when swiping down, with the Quick Settings tiles positioned underneath.

Although this is a minor adjustment, it could prove beneficial for users who frequently manage music or podcasts via the notification shade. Users will no longer need to expand the panel or navigate through tiles; playback controls will be readily accessible with just one swipe.
