Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro: Impressive Performance, But Lacks Android Compatibility

Anker MagGo 2 Pro Power Bank

The Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro stands out as a top contender among wireless power banks. Its efficient cooling fan, quick wired and wireless charging capabilities, and sleek design contribute to its quality. That said, the product is predominantly tailored for iPhone users, leaving Android users—like those with Pixel or Galaxy devices—struggling to access some of its most sophisticated features.

As a leader in charging technology, Anker is often a go-to for those seeking portable chargers for new devices or older ones that require extra power to last through the day. Upon receiving the Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro ($109.99), my hopes were high for it to rank among the best from a trusted brand—though it appears I was only partially right.

With its compact size, integrated fan cooling, and leading Qi2 charging speeds, the MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro appears to be an excellent choice. However, despite not officially bearing a “Made for iPhone” label, many features are designed with Apple’s MagSafe technology in mind.

Nonetheless, this power bank is still a reliable device for Android users. Keep reading to see if its performance justifies a purchase.

Pro Features

Available in four colors, the MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro retails for $109 (or £99 in the UK), making it Anker’s most expensive wireless power bank in this dimension.

For those seeking a compact solution to carry an extra 10,000mAh, Anker and other brands offer viable options. However, the Power Bank 2 Pro aims to provide more.

The Power Bank 2 Pro is a step up from the MagGo Power Bank (10k), which is still available at a lower price point. The original has the same capacity but lacks the enhanced wired and wireless outputs, alongside more basic indicators.

Notably, the Pro version is both slimmer and lighter, weighing 7.76 ounces (220 grams) with a thickness of 0.69 inches (17.5mm), compared to the earlier model at 8.82 ounces (250 grams) and 0.78 inches (19.8mm). Anker doesn’t specifically market the Pro’s size, but it’s easy to slip into a bag or even a pocket.

The Power Bank 2 Pro offers a certified flight-safe 10,000mAh capacity, supporting up to 25W wireless charging and 45W wired input and output for charging the battery or other devices when needed.

Charging Speeds

Start with charging: the MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro features up to 25W wireless and up to 45W wired charging—making it useful for charging devices or recharging itself.

For instance, charging an iPhone 18 Pro Max, capable of utilizing the full 25W, resulted in a 25% charge in 15 minutes, reaching 80% after an hour, and a full charge in 1 hour and 40 minutes, using 83% of the power bank’s battery. It’s important to note that no charging method is entirely efficient, and while wireless charging is convenient, it’s not the quickest option—especially when the built-in fan is operational.

Throughout the process, the iPhone remained only slightly warmer, so if you use your phone while charging, discomfort is minimal.

Charging a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 while using a compatible case showed some inconsistency. Initially operating between 5-8W, it eventually stabilized at full power of 20W, although it took a couple of minutes to do so.

The charging features of the MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro make it just as valuable for wired connections as it is for wireless, allowing for rapid recharging.

While I managed to charge my 14-inch M1 Pro MacBook Pro to 49% in around 40 minutes, this completely drained the power bank. Similarly, I managed to recharge a Razer Blade 14 to 47% in 50 minutes. For regular laptop users, a 20,000mAh option might be more suitable, but this still serves as a solid backup.

Cooling Fan

The MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro features a SnapCool fan that activates when wireless charging exceeds 15W. With graphene layers and vents, the device maintains a temperature of approximately 36 degrees Celsius (97 degrees Fahrenheit).

While the fan is audible, it operates at a low volume of 30-40dB, making it barely noticeable during usage.

You can switch the fan off for quieter operation, though doing so reduces performance significantly, increasing recharge times for both the power bank and connected devices.

In general, it’s recommended to keep the fan active for optimal charging efficiency.

Data Display

The Power Bank 2 Pro includes a display that may seem superfluous but ends up being quite useful. It can recognize connected devices and suggest tailored charging profiles for improved performance, though the specifics remain ambiguous.

The display also provides useful metrics like battery status, output levels, and temperature. Navigating these options is intuitive, which is a strong point for Anker products.

Extras Included

The full package includes several accessories, such as a built-in stand for optimal phone positioning during charging and a storage pouch along with a braided USB-C cable. While some connectors feel less durable, the cable still supports up to 60W and is compatible with high-output chargers.

Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro: Conclusion

The Anker MagGo Power Bank 2 Pro checks all boxes for a premium charging device. Compact yet powerful, it incorporates numerous features that ensure swift charging on the go. Although less expensive alternatives are available, this product stands out in functionality.

However, while it serves Android users reasonably well, it is evidently optimized for iPhone users. Given the growth of Qi2 integration among Android devices, it would be prudent for Anker to consider enhancing compatibility for these users in future releases.
