Disruptive Secures $10 Billion Fund to Invest in a Minimum of 10 Promising Ventures

Investment firm Disruptive, based in Dallas and known for its previous investments in companies like Palantir, Airbnb, and Spotify, has unveiled a $10 billion fund aimed at supporting at least 10 late-stage companies, with funding amounts reaching as high as $1 billion, as announced on Tuesday.

This marks one of the largest fundraising efforts of the year, focusing on capital-intensive sectors such as artificial intelligence and defense. Earlier this month, a report indicated that the firm was in the process of raising this fund and had already garnered commitments of at least $7.5 billion.

Founded in 2012 by Alex Davis, who is the grandson of oil tycoon Marvin Davis, Disruptive is making a significant move with this fund. This is the firm’s inaugural blind-pool fund, meaning that investors contribute money without prior knowledge of the specific companies that will receive backing. Prior to this, the company raised funds through deal-specific special purpose vehicles. Notably, Disruptive has gained attention for its investments in various startups, such as chip company Groq and AI voice generator ElevenLabs. Reports indicate that the firm has delivered over $6 billion in returns on an approximate $1.9 billion investment in startups.

As noted by the Dallas Business Journal, the new fund represents the largest venture capital fund raised in the state of Texas to date.
