On Thursday, Amazon unveiled a revamped Kindle collection featuring sleeker designs, edge-to-edge displays, and a lighter overall build, along with a selection of new accessories. Among these was the Kindle Click, a remote priced at $34.99 that piqued our interest.
The Kindle Click is a small Bluetooth remote specifically created for seamless page-turning without having to touch the Kindle itself. This straightforward concept aims to alleviate a common frustration for e-reader users who must frequently reach for their device’s screen when transitioning to the next page.
This compact remote is particularly handy in situations where reaching for the Kindle isn’t practical. Amazon markets it as ideal for reading while snuggled in bed, exercising on a treadmill, or for use with a Kindle placed on a tray table during flights. Instead of having to physically touch the reader, users can effortlessly press a button on the remote to advance their reading.
The Kindle Click is compatible with all new Kindle models, as well as those released from 2024 onwards.
Until now, Kindle users have primarily depended on third-party accessories, many of which utilize clip-on designs that physically interact with the screen rather than communicating directly with the device.
By introducing the Kindle Click, Amazon positions itself alongside competitors who have begun to explore this market. For example, Rakuten Kobo released its own remote, the Kobo Remote, last year for $29.99. Another competitor, BOOX, offers the Tappy, a $29.99 wireless page-turning device tailored for its ePaper gadgets.
Although Amazon’s Kindle Click is more expensive than these alternatives, the company likely anticipates that Kindle users will be willing to invest in an official accessory designed specifically for their e-reader. This new Kindle lineup represents one of the most substantial redesigns in years, boasting a display that is 30% faster in page-turning capabilities compared to its predecessors.
In addition to the Kindle Click, Amazon also revealed other accessories for the new Kindle series, including a magnetic cover equipped with physical page-turn buttons and a charging dock stand for both the Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition and Colorsoft Signature Edition.
