Yoto has unveiled two exciting new audio devices tailored for children: the fourth-generation Yoto Player and an upgraded Yoto Mini.
The redesigned Yoto Player retains its speaker and pixel display but comes with enhanced features. Notably, it introduces a large green dial that children can turn to access their favorite audio content, which includes up to 20 different selections, such as podcasts, stories, and songs.
This capability operates directly from the device, eliminating the need for kids to use their parents’ phones. Furthermore, it doesn’t require the use of Yoto Cards, which are small NFC keys previously needed to unlock exclusive content.
In addition, Yoto has improved the software to simplify the creation and management of routines. Parents can set a routine once, and the device will automatically adjust visuals according to the time of day.
Yoto claims to have redesigned the hardware to be user-friendly for young children. The storage capacity has been expanded to 64GB, download speeds are expected to increase, and the nightlight feature has seen enhancements.
This news is particularly promising, given that the previous version of the Yoto Player was already recognized as one of the top audio gadgets for children. However, there is a downside: the price will rise to $150, up from $110. Pre-orders are currently open, with shipments scheduled to start on October 15.
Meanwhile, the Yoto Mini is also receiving significant updates. This smaller, more affordable audio player is designed to withstand typical children’s adventures. It boasts a rugged, water-resistant, and dust-resistant design, ensuring it can survive playground activities and unexpected weather.
The Mini will also feature the new green button that enables access to content without needing Yoto Cards. It offers storage for approximately 1,000 hours of audio and is compatible with both wired and Bluetooth headphones.
Unfortunately, the Yoto Mini will also see a price increase, now retailing at $110 up from $80. It is available for pre-order now, with shipments expected to commence on September 30.
Yoto is also releasing a range of accessories for both devices, including scratch-resistant cases available in four colors. Additionally, they are developing a wireless dock and a case for Yoto Cards, though specific pricing and availability details have yet to be announced.
