iPhone Handoff: Effortlessly Syncing a Single Number Across Two Devices

With the impending release of iOS 27 later this month, Apple is set to introduce an innovative feature dubbed iPhone Handoff. This functionality allows users to seamlessly transition between two phones while utilizing the same phone number. Although it was briefly mentioned during the WWDC keynote in June, specifics were scarce until now. A demonstration video has revealed how to configure this feature through Xcode 27’s Device Hub, enabling users to connect two iPhones—designating one as the primary device and the other as a “companion.”

The timing of this launch aligns with the anticipated introduction of the foldable iPhone Ultra, which is expected soon. Users may prefer not to carry around a bulky and high-priced device at all times. The Handoff feature would allow them to temporarily switch to a more compact and budget-friendly option, such as an older model like the cracked iPhone 13 that many might be hesitant to replace.

It is important to note that this feature will require support from carriers. Code references indicate compatibility with T-Mobile US and Telekom.de, though further details on additional carrier support remain unclear.
