Eight leaked videos about the Steam Frame bring both insights and humor.
Typically, leaks from Valve are disappointing, but this time, they have managed to pique interest. The company inadvertently released eight videos showcasing the Steam Frame VR headset during an ARM Steam Client update. Before the videos could be pulled down, they were quickly captured and shared by fans. Valve has since decided to let some of this content circulate online.
While there aren’t any groundbreaking revelations in the clips, they provide a thorough overview of the sign-in procedure, headset fitting, and included accessories. The videos are bright, engaging, and carry a hint of playfulness, reminiscent of GLaDOS’s quirky style. The sign-in segment, in particular, takes a lighthearted approach, demonstrating a humorous method where users can log in by scanning a QR code with their phone camera directed at one of the headset’s lenses. The fitting video adds to the fun, showcasing users experimenting with the headset in unconventional ways, like wearing it as a bag or over their mouths.
The standout videos focus on features like the interpupillary distance adjustment and its locking mechanism, along with ergonomic accessories. These include controller hand straps, a support strap for the top of the head, and a light blocker for users with smaller noses. The Steam Frame is designed for ease, with a cushioned face gasket and an optional eye spacer that attach magnetically, plus a battery pack with a charging port located on the back of the main strap.

Valve has announced that the Steam Frame is set to release this summer. However, the videos did not disclose the headset’s price, which is expected to be relatively high due to the current RAM shortages affecting the computer hardware market, as the Steam Frame includes 16GB of RAM. Recently, Valve introduced the Steam Machine and the Steam Controller, with the Steam Machine retailing for $1,049 for the base 512GB version.
