Apple appears to be in the early stages of preparing promotional content for its anticipated AirPods featuring a camera, as indicated by a recently discovered video in the latest macOS update.
The video, which surfaced in the macOS 26.7 Release Candidate, depicts a man discussing a book with Siri while utilizing visual information.
“With Visual Intelligence, your world becomes savable. If you see something appealing, just ask me to remember it for later,” the voiceover states in the clip.
According to reports, the new AirPods will be equipped with a camera that allows users to analyze objects in their vicinity and receive answers related to them. The software code also hints that the device will alert users if the camera is obstructed by hair or other items.
In May, it was revealed that Apple was nearing the completion of testing for this product. It was reported that the camera-integrated AirPods would resemble the AirPods Pro 3 but feature a longer stem and an LED indicator to signal when data is being transmitted to the cloud.
Similar functionalities are already found in devices such as the Ray-Ban Meta Glasses and smart eyewear from companies like Rokid. This may indicate Apple’s intent to incorporate real-world intelligence into its products ahead of the launch of its own smart glasses.
Previously, there was speculation that Apple aimed to launch the new AirPods in the first half of 2026. However, with a release planned for an updated Siri in September, the company may now align the launch of the AirPods with its upcoming operating system updates.
