Google Wallet Introduces Safe Money Transfers for Parents to Their Children

Children can utilize it via their Android devices or Wear OS gadgets wherever Google Pay is accepted.

Google has introduced a new feature in Google Wallet, allowing parents in the United States to create a digital fund for their children and teenagers, which they can replenish as needed.

This tool, which lacks a memorable name, aims to “assist parents in teaching responsible financial practices,” according to a company press release. The intention is for parents to keep an eye on their children’s purchases while setting limits to help prevent excessive spending.

Parents can track their child’s account activities through transaction lists or receive notifications via Family Link if those are activated. If they wish to impose a “spending freeze” or need to secure the account due to a lost device, they have the ability to do so remotely at any time.

With Google Wallet, children don’t require their own bank accounts to make purchases using their Android phones or Wear OS devices. As long as the merchant accepts Google Pay, payments from the parent-monitoring balance will be processed.

Apple has a similar function known as Apple Cash Family, so Google is somewhat following suit here. However, for families that are more inclined towards Android and are concerned about their children overspending during school breaks, this update could prove quite beneficial.
