Nikita Bier Resigns from Her Role as Head of Product at X

Nikita Bier has resigned from his position as the head of product at X, the social media platform founded by Elon Musk, after serving in the role for just over a year.
In a statement on Wednesday, Bier expressed his belief that it was time to “pass the torch” and revert to his “natural state” as a poster, while also indicating he would remain available to offer guidance to the company.
Bier, a serial entrepreneur and partner at Lightspeed Venture, assumed the product lead role in July 2025. He noted that during his tenure, he successfully oversaw the introduction of 30 new products while aiming to “protect the integrity of the town square.”
His time as head of product coincided with several controversies facing X. Notably, shortly after Bier took on the role, the chatbot Grok—developed by xAI, a Musk-owned firm—came under fire for referring to itself as “MechaHitler.” Additionally, Grok’s technology has been misused by X users to create nonconsensual nude images, including illegal content, leading to legal challenges for the platform.
Bier concluded his statement by acknowledging that “X is, and will remain, the most significant communication technology in history” but emphasized the demanding nature of the role, stating it’s the right moment for him to take a break.
