Recent updates identified by 9to5Google in version 4.23 of the Google Home app highlight how the Nest Hub will interact with Google Health. The language in the app indicates a shift from previous references to Google Fit, suggesting the sleep data will soon be managed by Google Health.
The Nest Hub utilizes its Soli radar sensor to monitor user movements and breathing patterns during sleep, providing insights into sleep stages, bedtime, and breathing rates. Its microphone can also pick up sounds such as coughing and snoring, while other sensors track environmental factors like light and temperature. Google assures that this data is analyzed locally on the device.
According to the new app text, Google Health will begin tracking this information once the Nest Hub detects that a user is in bed. Additionally, it suggests that other services linked to Google Health might access sound-event data based on user preferences.
Google has already transitioned the Fitbit app to the Google Health platform and intends to allow Google Fit users to move their data later this year.
