Rivian Offshoot Set to Launch E-Bike Deliveries After Extended Hold-ups

Also, a spinoff from Rivian, is set to begin customer deliveries of its inaugural e-bike next week following a series of delays tied to supply chain challenges.
The company informed TechCrunch that the Launch Edition of its TM-B e-bike, which is priced at $4,500, has started its journey from the manufacturer to their U.S. warehouse. Also anticipates that deliveries for all Launch Edition e-bikes will happen from next week through September.
Initially a side project within Rivian in 2022, Also was founded after CEO RJ Scaringe sought to create an e-bike as part of his electric vehicle offerings geared toward outdoor enthusiasts. The company dedicated years to refining the idea, even collaborating with Jony Ive’s design firm LoveFrom for initial designs, as TechCrunch initially reported in 2025.
In March 2025, Rivian officially spun off Also, which received $105 million in funding from Eclipse. The startup unveiled its first e-bike, the TM-B, in October of last year, originally aiming for a “Spring” 2026 launch, but supply chain issues led to a delay, pushing the expected delivery to July.
According to the company, the updated timeline is a result of existing global supply chain pressures. A significant surge in demand for raw materials and electronic components has impacted critical parts for the TM-B, necessitating a reevaluation of the manufacturing schedule and causing delays beyond the initial spring timeframe. The engineering and production teams are reportedly working diligently to address these challenges without compromising on safety or quality.
However, Also has not disclosed which specific components contributed to the delays.
Looking ahead, Also has ambitious goals beyond the TM-B. The startup identifies primarily as a “vehicle” company and is planning to develop four-wheel pedal-assist cargo vehicles for Amazon while also working on an autonomous delivery vehicle for DoorDash.
For the moment, though, Also’s focus remains on successfully delivering its first e-bikes while also managing customer service challenges. As the month ended, several customers voiced their frustrations on the r/ALSOmicromobility subreddit due to ongoing shipping delays.
“I’m really frustrated by the lack of communication and the actual miscommunication/lies from Also regarding shipment timelines,” one user expressed. “Why do they keep making these promises about shipping timelines just to blow right past them without any communication or actual updates? It really makes no sense.”
In response, another user quipped, “Hey we’ve still got a few business hours left in July. Maybe we’ll get an email later this morning ☺️.”
Not all customers were so forgiving, with one stating, “Couldn’t wait any longer and canceled my reservation.”
