- The device is equipped with a 200MP main camera on a gimbal, along with a 200MP periscope camera.
- It features various stability enhancements and tracking capabilities.
Since March 2026, HONOR has showcased its innovative Robot Phone, highlighting a sophisticated gimbal camera system. After various rumors, the company has now officially unveiled the camera specifications.
During a recent camera technology event held in China, HONOR provided an array of information about the Robot Phone’s camera features. The standout announcement was the confirmation of a 200MP gimbal-mounted main camera (f/1.6, 1/1.28-inch).
While the sensor may not compete with the size of Sony’s LYT-901, it remains considerable compared to the majority of 200MP sensors available. This sensor size aligns with that of the OPPO Find X9 Ultra’s 3x periscope camera, which features an Omnivision OV52A sensor. The combination of gimbal technology and a high-resolution sensor is expected to deliver smooth video recording, particularly useful when cropped. This will likely be enhanced by a wider-than-normal field of view.

Additionally, HONOR confirmed that the Robot Phone will feature a 200MP periscope camera (f/2.6, 1/1.4-inch). Details regarding the focal length are yet to be revealed, but historical models from the Magic series have provided cameras with magnifications ranging from 3x to 3.7x.
The Robot Phone is also expected to include advanced stabilization and tracking functionalities, which are inherent to its gimbal mechanism. These features encompass three-axis stabilization, motion prediction, automatic subject tracking, and more, capitalizing on the gimbal hardware’s capabilities.
Furthermore, the company has partnered with ARRI for unique features like the pioneering LOGC3 encoding and ARRI Look color style. In addition to this, it will house H1 imaging technology alongside a dedicated sensing chip for motion capture.
Overall, the HONOR Robot Phone is anticipated to stand out as one of the leading camera phones of 2026. Historically, Android devices have been considered less capable than iPhones in video recording, but with innovations like the Robot Phone, Galaxy S26 Ultra, and vivo X300 Ultra, it’s evident that Android is making significant improvements in this regard. But let’s hope we see this exciting new device hit the market soon.
