Blade Runner 2099 Trailer Unveiled: Set Your Calendar for November 25 on Prime Video!

New series features performances by Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer.

After a lengthy wait of nearly five years, a trailer for Blade Runner 2099 has finally been released. This upcoming series marks the first time the Blade Runner franchise has transitioned into live-action television, following the animated installment, Blade Runner: Black Lotus.

Set 50 years after the events of Blade Runner 2049, the new series promises to immerse viewers in a richly crafted cyberpunk universe, filled with impressive visual effects. While plot details remain sparse, the trailer suggests a transformed world since the last film featuring Ryan Gosling.

Replicants appear to have taken center stage in society, with humans now a minority. Hints of a conflict that unfolded after 2049 are also present, adding depth to the storyline.

In the series, Hunter Schafer plays Cora, a blade runner—a significant role considering her character had limited development in season 3 of Euphoria. Michelle Yeoh portrays a replicant who forms an uneasy alliance with Cora, as they seek to locate “a runaway hiding a truth that could crumble their delicate city.”

Silka Luisa, known for her work on the Apple TV+ series Shining Girls, serves as the showrunner. Ridley Scott, the director of the original film, is involved as an executive producer. This limited series is designed as a single season, with all eight episodes set to premiere on Prime Video on November 25.

For those unfamiliar, Blade Runner is an iconic science fiction film from 1982 that explores the conflict between humans and humanoid robots. Based on a story by Philip K. Dick, the franchise has grown to include additional films, animated series, comics, and novels, with shared elements connecting it to the Alien franchise, although both universes remain distinct.
