The Samsung Freestyle+ projector is now offered for $1,200 through the company’s website and select stores. This price point is higher than the previous Freestyle model, which retailed for $800 and is currently priced at $798 on Amazon. However, the Freestyle+ comes with enhanced functionalities, including an improved 3D Auto Keystone feature designed to effectively correct distortions, as showcased at CES earlier this year.
This innovative feature allows for the flattening of images even when projecting onto unconventional surfaces such as corners or curtains with folds. Users can project onto virtually any surface within their home or outdoors, such as tent sides. The projector also boasts the ability to automatically resize images, accommodating different wall spaces, and can display images up to 100 inches in 1080p resolution.
Another notable feature, Wall Calibration, analyzes the color of the surface for projection and fine-tunes the brightness and color accordingly. Samsung claims this ensures “clear viewing even on patterned wallpaper or colored walls.” Additionally, the projector supports HDR10+ technology and can identify its distance from the projection surface to focus the viewing content instantly.
The Freestyle+ features a built-in speaker with dual passive woofers for immersive 360-degree audio. It can stream content directly from Galaxy devices or through Apple devices using AirPlay. The projector also has access to channels on Samsung TV Plus and allows gaming via Samsung’s Gaming Hub. While it requires a power source during use, it can be connected to an external USB-C battery, making it suitable for outdoor activities like camping when power outlets aren’t available.
