Microsoft Enhances Windows Search Box for Improved Usability and Efficiency

Windows 11 is gradually enhancing its features.

Microsoft has revealed a series of updates aimed at improving the Windows Search Box in Windows 11. While each change is relatively small, collectively they aim to enhance the overall search experience. Users participating in the Windows Insider program may notice these enhancements starting today.

The entire user interface for the Windows Search Box is being refined. The home screen has been simplified to reduce visual clutter, which should facilitate easier access to recent searches. Additionally, the results display has been made cleaner with expanded spacing, allowing for important metadata to be shown more prominently. Users now have the option to filter results to include web hits and Microsoft Store results alongside local finds. A notable change is that web searches will no longer feature sponsored products or promotions at the top of the list. The updated search function is also expected to perform better in locating both files and applications.

Following a somewhat unsuccessful attempt to promote Copilot, Microsoft has shifted its focus back to enhancing the user experience in Windows 11. Recent updates include adjustments to the Start menu size, alongside more substantial additions such as a feature to revert problematic drivers.
