Top 3 Fresh Netflix Series to Binge-Watch This Weekend (July 10-12)

This summer, Netflix has been adding an impressive lineup of shows and films. Among the notable titles are Harlan Coben’s I Will Find You and the spine-tingling docuseries Worst Neighbor Ever, both of which have been trending in Netflix’s Top 10. Additionally, Hamnet is tapping into viewers’ emotions. These are great additions for subscribers seeking captivating content.

If you’ve already watched everything on your watchlist and are in need of new recommendations, we’ve got you covered. This weekend’s highlights showcase a highly praised ’70s Western crime series, a popular hot-sauce interview show that’s stepping up its game, and a surprising stand-up comedy special that sneaks up on you.

Dark Winds (Season 4)

Leaphorn and Chee Head to Los Angeles

A handful of series can boast a flawless 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes, and Dark Winds achieves that across its four seasons. Produced by George R.R. Martin and the late Robert Redford, this neo-Western noir is adapted from Tony Hillerman’s acclaimed Leaphorn & Chee novels, with the fourth season taking on the sixth book from 1984, titled The Ghostway.

The fourth installment follows Lt. Joe Leaphorn (Zahn McClarnon), who is still coming to terms with his wife’s departure at the end of season three. He takes on one final investigation before retirement, as he searches for a Navajo teenager missing from her boarding school. This journey leads him, along with Sgt. Jim Chee (Kiowa Gordon) and Sgt. Bernadette Manuelito (Jessica Matten), out of the desert and into 1970s Los Angeles, where they encounter hitwoman Irene Vaggan (Franka Potente) and her supervisor, Dominic McNair (Titus Welliver).

All eight episodes became available on Netflix on July 4.

Sean Evans Brings the Da Bomb to the Big Leagues

I’ve enjoyed watching Sean Evans challenge some of the most famous celebrities with fiery wings on his YouTube show since it began in 2015. After more than a decade of carving out a niche as the internet’s go-to interview show, Hot Ones is now expanding its reach to Netflix—and yes, the hot wings are making the transition.

Staying true to form, Hot Ones: Extra Heat features 30-minute specials that transport the iconic spicy chicken wings beyond the studio to Netflix’s large live events and premieres, depending on the occasion. The first episode airs on Monday, July 13, right after Netflix’s coverage of the MLB T-Mobile Home Run Derby in Philadelphia at 8:00 p.m. ET, featuring guests Will Ferrell, Fortune Feimster, and Jimmy Tatro from the upcoming Netflix golf comedy The Hawk, as they tackle the spicy challenge.

Although this show officially releases a day after the weekend, I wanted to give you a heads up. If you haven’t experienced it yet, Evans is a masterful host who delivers incisive questions to his guests while they feel the heat from the Scoville scale. Will Ferrell has participated in the YouTube version before, promising a mix of laughter, sweat, and various drinks to soothe the burning sensation.

Jeff Arcuri: Nice to Meet You

The Viral Crowd-Work King Gets His Netflix Hour

If you’ve encountered quick-witted clips of a comic roasting audience members on your social media feeds lately, it’s likely been Jeff Arcuri. This comic has skyrocketed to popularity over the past year, leveraging his viral crowd-work to fill theaters across the country. His first Netflix special, Jeff Arcuri: Nice to Meet You, launched on July 7.

The special was filmed at Phoenix’s Celebrity Theatre during five sold-out performances last December. The hour-long show features Arcuri tackling various humorous subjects, from marital jokes and restroom etiquette to addressing online trolls—all delivered at his trademark rapid-fire pace.

The core of the show, however, revolves around Arcuri’s reflections on bringing smiles to his wife, Katie Thurston, during her battle with stage 4 breast cancer. It marks a compelling debut, blending humor with unexpected poignancy.

July’s Just Getting Started

Whether you’re in the mood for a gripping crime narrative, fiery wings, or laughter mixed with heart, these three options are outstanding. Stay tuned for more recommendations in our streaming section.
