In the coming weeks, it’s likely you’ll notice an uptick in live broadcasts on X. While this feature isn’t new, it has not typically been associated with the platform. The company has introduced a new live streaming command center called Live Studio, designed to assist creators in going live more seamlessly, accompanied by new financial incentives.
In recent announcements on X, the product lead revealed that the service will allocate $1 million to creators who engage in live streaming during the next cycle. Although specific details regarding the payout structure remain unclear, further information is expected soon. A demonstration of the Live Studio was shared to illustrate its functionality.
The command center allows users to initiate a live stream by setting a title and uploading a thumbnail that will be displayed before the stream starts. Creators can schedule streams for a particular time and date, along with options to control viewer access. They can limit streams to verified accounts, those they follow, or their subscribers; alternatively, the streams can be made public to all users on X. Live Studio also provides creators with access to viewer comments, concurrent viewer counts, and demographic information such as locations and device usage.
Currently, live streaming on X is restricted to users who subscribe to X Premium at a monthly fee of $3. Whether X has effectively enhanced its live streaming capabilities since previous years is still uncertain. In 2023, a significant event was disrupted when Ron DeSantis intended to announce his presidential candidacy on the platform’s live audio service, Spaces, but faced technical difficulties. Similarly, a year later, an anticipated interview between Elon Musk and President Trump also suffered from server issues, making it inaccessible.
