According to the latest update from Google Workspace, these files will be placed in a new Google Meet folder within the host’s My Drive following each meeting. Each meeting will feature its own subfolder, while instances of recurring meetings will be organized together.

Participants who have permission to access the meeting files will also receive shortcuts to them in their respective Google Meet folders. Previously, files were solely added to the host’s Drive and lacked proper organization, complicating the retrieval of recordings or transcripts.

In addition, Google is revamping its old folder structure. Existing Meet Recordings folders will be relocated within the new Google Meet folder and renamed as Legacy Meet Recordings. Users might temporarily see both new and old folders during this transition.

The rollout is initiated for Rapid Release domains today, with Scheduled Release domains to follow on July 30. This update will be accessible to all Google Workspace customers, although administrators may need to check any scripts or automated workflows reliant on specific folder names or identifiers.
