CrowdStrike Invests Close to $500M in Two AI Security Startups Amid Rapid Growth in Security Solutions Market

Cybersecurity leader CrowdStrike is set to acquire two artificial intelligence security firms, enhancing its suite of products to better oversee, test, and safeguard AI models and agents, as various sectors increasingly adopt AI technology.
The acquisitions include Fiddler AI, known for its tools that offer visibility into AI agents within organizations, and Dreadnode, which specializes in automating security assessments to identify weaknesses in AI models, applications, and agents prior to deployment.
Reportedly, CrowdStrike is investing approximately $400 million in Fiddler AI and around $95 million in Dreadnode, as indicated in financial reports.
These deals emerge amidst a turbulent period for cybersecurity, where the current policies and frameworks lag significantly behind the rapid integration of AI in businesses. With teams and individuals experimenting with AI tools to automate processes and develop customized applications, this trend is leading to considerable challenges for security departments.
CrowdStrike, whose solutions are prevalent among enterprises and government entities, aims to capitalize on its existing influence to capture a portion of this dynamic market. The landscape is bustling with other startups and cybersecurity firms securing funds to address company-specific issues, driven by the belief that current security measures are inadequate for managing AI tools, connections, or usage.
To bolster its offerings, CrowdStrike has been developing Falcon Guardian, a suite of detection and response capabilities intended to give organizations insight into the activities of AI agents on their systems. These recent acquisitions further expand its capabilities.
Fiddler AI will be integrated into CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform as Falcon Observe, enabling clients to evaluate agents pre-deployment, track their activities, and relay this data into the overall system. On the other hand, Dreadnode’s software will be incorporated into the Falcon Guardian product, contributing its security testing insights to inform policy recommendations.
Established in 2018, Fiddler AI has raised approximately $99 million to date, while Dreadnode, which launched in 2023, has garnered $14 million in funding thus far.
