Instacart Allegedly Explored Sale Opportunities with DoorDash and Uber

Instacart may be considering a sale to a larger rival, as indicated by various media sources.

According to a report from The Information, the grocery delivery service has engaged an investment bank to explore its options and has initiated discussions regarding potential acquisitions with DoorDash. Additionally, Bloomberg has mentioned that conversations also took place with Uber, although those talks are believed to have ended without further progress.

With a market capitalization exceeding $13 billion and a 25% rise in stock value this year, Instacart might view this as an opportune moment to pursue a sale at an attractive price, especially as competition in the grocery delivery sector continues to increase. However, Bloomberg has cautioned that these discussions are at a preliminary stage and may not lead to an actual sale.

A representative from Instacart chose not to provide any comments on the matter. Following news of the potential sale, Instacart’s stock surged by over 9.2% on Friday, contrasting with declines in stock prices for both Uber and DoorDash.
