Introducing Mesh: Automattic’s Universal CRM Now Available on Android!

Mesh, a personal relationship management tool acquired by Automattic, is now accessible on Android devices. This software enables users to privately manage their personal and professional contacts, includes note-taking for each connection, and offers reminders for outreach.
The Android version of the Mesh app has been tailored to leverage key functionalities of the platform, such as split-screen and pop-up views. This design allows users to interact with Mesh while using other applications, like messaging or emailing. Additionally, it supports keyboard shortcuts for foldable devices and tablets, has in-app search capabilities, provides home screen widgets that harmonize with the device’s wallpaper, and synchronizes data in real-time across multiple devices.
Future developments for Mesh may involve a closer integration with Automattic’s comprehensive messaging application, Beeper. This platform allows users to connect across various messaging services including WhatsApp, Instagram, Signal, and more.
Currently, Mesh and Beeper already offer some level of integration; Mesh users can compose messages for contacts within Beeper or visit profiles in Mesh through deep links. The company aims to enhance both applications with AI features that streamline the management of personal relationships.
“We are exploring how AI can help you enhance your friendships and improve both work and personal relationships,” stated Zachary Hamed, co-founder of Mesh, in a recent interview. “Many of our users have extensive networks on social media and work platforms, making it a significant challenge to maintain meaningful interactions with each connection.”

Mesh is currently testing an AI feature called Nexus AI, which assists users in navigating their network. This allows queries such as identifying people within a specific company or those who have expertise in a certain area. The company is also looking into incorporating a voice-activated interface and enhancing its business card scanning feature.
Crucially, Mesh prioritizes user privacy, assuring that personal information collected by the app is not shared or used for advertising purposes. The service operates on a subscription model, with a free tier available for up to 1,000 contacts, and paid options for expanded features.
In the future, Mesh may explore offering bundled subscriptions with Beeper or other Automattic services, though there are no current announcements on this development.
Presently, about 70% of Mesh users are utilizing the app for professional reasons. Co-founder Matthew Achariam mentions that the platform primarily appeals to executives managing larger teams or those needing to maintain a close-knit network. Nevertheless, the potential for consumer use is still a consideration.
“The advantage of serving business users is that the features they utilize can also benefit individual consumers,” he adds, emphasizing the dual applicability of their design approach.
Mesh (previously known as Clay) for Android will soon be available for download on Google Play for phones, tablets, and foldable devices, offered at no cost with in-app purchases.
