  • Issues with Google Search’s time filters are causing them to show random results instead of the selected timeframe.
  • The problem appears to affect users globally across various accounts and devices.
  • Currently, utilizing the “after/before:YYYY-MM-DD” search operator is the only available workaround.

Google Search’s time filters have long been a reliable tool for accessing the latest information on various topics. Users typically rely on these filters to find results within a certain timeframe, whether tracking breaking news or software releases. However, it seems these essential features are now malfunctioning.

Instead of filtering results as intended, Google Search is presenting a mix of pages from various dates, irrespective of the selected timeframe. This issue is not confined to any particular browser or account.

Social media platforms, particularly Reddit, have echoed concerns about this glitch, indicating it has persisted for several days. Although Google has yet to acknowledge the problem, the scope of the issue suggests it could be a bug.

Fortunately, users can still retrieve timely results by manually inputting date operators in their searches. For instance, entering “after:2026-07-01” will yield results from pages published after that date.

Based on discussions in user forums, the problem may stem from issues with the JavaScript behind the time filter dropdown, even though the manual search operators are functioning as expected.

For the time being, if Google’s built-in time filters are ineffective, utilizing the manual search operator remains the most reliable option until Google resolves what seems to be a significant issue.
