Two years back, the Google Play Store launched Collections to help users find groups of related apps organized by themes like Shopping, Entertainment, and Food. Shortly after, Google added new widgets that allowed quick access to these Collections from the home screen. Recent developments indicate that Google is now planning to enhance these widgets by enabling single-Collection options, providing a more focused experience.

This information has been drawn from version 52.1.26-31 of the Play Store Android app. Similar to updates previously shared about Google Contacts, these new features are not yet visible on smartphones.
Initially, users had two widget options for accessing their Collections: a smaller widget with icons for each individual Collection and a larger widget showing all Collections along one side. Depending on how they were set up, it was possible not to view every Collection type simultaneously.

Google is now planning to enhance user experience by allowing individuals to pick specific widgets for their most relevant Collections. This new approach will provide options for eight different Collections: Food, Games, Music, Reading, Shopping, Social Media, Travel, and Watching content.
While these widget updates are still in development and not yet available for use, it’s an exciting glimpse into the future enhancements the Play Store has in store.
