Last year, Samsung introduced the Vascular Load feature for its Galaxy Watch lineup, allowing users to monitor vascular stress. However, it appears that this feature will no longer be available in the US.
Reports from Reddit indicate that users have received notifications regarding the discontinuation of Vascular Load in the US (source: SammyGuru). The removal is set for “late July”, coinciding with the launch of One UI Watch 9 and version 7.0 of the Samsung Health app.
In place of the Vascular Load feature, Samsung is introducing a Blood Pressure Trend option. Users will need a blood pressure cuff to set up this feature on their watches for tracking trends over time. According to the company, this new function will be compatible with their next Galaxy Watch model.
Earlier this year, Samsung finally enabled blood pressure tracking on Galaxy Watches in the US. This feature also requires users to use a blood pressure cuff every 28 days to ensure accuracy. However, the upcoming Blood Pressure Trend feature is expected to provide a comprehensive view of blood pressure changes over time.
The reasons behind the removal of the Vascular Load tracking feature remain unclear. The fact that this discontinuation is limited to the US could imply it is tied to regulatory factors. Nevertheless, the existing blood pressure monitoring feature does not need FDA approval either. It may also be that Vascular Load is being replaced in regions where Blood Pressure Trend will be introduced.
