Cursor Launches Mobile App to Assist Your Coding Assistant Anytime, Anywhere

Cursor is forging ahead despite the recent $60 billion SpaceX acquisition.
On Monday, the company revealed the launch of a new mobile application for iOS, specifically tailored for users who want to engage coding agents directly from their smartphones. This app aligns with the Cursor 2.0 updates announced in October, which transitioned the platform towards using independent coding agents. With this mobile application, users can deploy new coding agents or interact with those launched from their desktop interface.
Cursor’s foray into mobile follows suit from similar offerings by Anthropic and OpenAI, both of which provide mobile access to their coding tools.
This development underscores a significant trend in AI-driven coding solutions, focusing less on traditional coding practices and more on managing code-writing agents. Many developers are shifting away from extensive multi-monitor desktop setups, opting instead for smartphones that facilitate ongoing dialogue with remote coding agents.
In a recent discussion, Boris Cherny, head of Claude Code at Anthropic, noted that he has nearly fully transitioned to mobile AI for coding. “Most of my coding now happens on my phone,” Cherny remarked during the talk. “If you had told me that six months ago, I would have thought you were out of your mind, but here we are now.”
