Light, known for its minimalistic phones like the Light Phone 3, has embraced a new venture by introducing the Light Flip. This model is aimed at consumers desiring a robust flip phone free from bloatware and distractions.
The Light Flip will be offered in six appealing shades: Black, Navy, Red, Pink, Yellow, and Gray. The design draws on the successful formula of previous Light Phone models, powered by LightOS. Users can expect essential tools such as an alarm, calendar, navigation, music playback, podcasts, and even a built-in two-factor authentication app.
This device features a 2.8-inch OLED display, a 12MP camera, and a T9 keypad. Connectivity options include a USB-C port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and support for both 5G and LTE networks with compatibility for eSIM as well as physical nano-SIM cards. Users can connect devices via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0.
It comes with 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM, powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT8873 chipset. The 1,800mAh battery ensures adequate usage time, while the IP54 rating offers protection against dust and light water exposure.
Notably, the phone lacks an exterior display, a design choice made based on user feedback. However, it features a notification light that alerts users to unread notifications while the phone is closed.
Pre-orders for the Light Flip are currently accepted at a starting price of $299, marking it as the most affordable option from the company to date. Additionally, there’s an option to obtain it with the Light service plan at $39 per month over two years. Shipping is anticipated to begin in April 2027.
